
Cathy's essay, "When Health History is a Matter of Life or Death," was published in Narrative Inquiry in Bioethics, by John Hopkins University Press in the Winter 2018 edition. It covers the importance of health information for adoptees after reunion, and the explores the potential consequences of not having access to one's biological family.

Cathy Heslin wrote, Is Knowing Our Parentage Our Right? which was picked up by Focus on Adoption, a magazine publication in Canada.

Cathy Heslin is one of the adoptee authors in this collection of essays on the adoptee experience. Her essay, Finding My Friends, discusses the importance of sharing the adoption and reunion journey with other adoptees. In The Adoptee Survival Guide includes other essays that delve into the complexity of being adopted, embracing on search and reunion, fighting for equal access to identifying information, navigating complex family relationship and surviving it all with a sense of humor.

Cathy Heslin is a columnist for The Lost Daughters, a website of blogs authored by adult women who were adopted as children. She contributed an essay in The Lost Daughters: Writing Adoption From a Place of Empowerment and Peace, edited by Amanda H.L. Transue-Woolston, Julie Stromberg, Karen Pickell, and Jennifer Anastasi. It features a collection of writings aimed to bring readers the perspectives of adopted women and highlight their strength, resiliency, and wisdom.
