Kathleen -Cathleen is a project by a birthmother (Kate Power) and daughter (Cathy Heslin) in reunion to tell the true, complicated story of relinquishment, adoption, reunion and reconciliation.

We have been in reunion for 30 years, having met just after Cathy graduated high school at 18, and Kate (at 37) was living a couple hours away. Our hopes for meeting were simple—for the birthmother to see her baby safe and secure, and for the adoptee to see where she came from. What we soon learned was that reunion was not so simple. |

The beginning
In 1998, Betty-Jean Lifton, author of groundbreaking " Journey Into the Adopted Self" told Kate Power and Cathy Heslin that they were the ones who should write the story on long-term reunion.
A chain of events in 2004 inspired Kate and Cathy to begin to write alternating sides about the turning points in their long term relationship-in-reunion from their unique perspectives. These mutual chapters were written in parallel over fourteen years, unshared between the two authors - until now.
